Safety Leadership Excellence Workshop Description
Safety is a leadership problem. You’ve probably heard that before but aren’t sure how to solve it. That’s where I can help!
This in-person workshop, which can be scheduled and held at your site, will provide instruction to your management and supervision team in key aspects of safety leadership. We will discuss and complete activities that will reinforce the necessary skills for ‘people leaders’ to improve the safety performance of their teams and deliver results! Class sizes are kept purposely small at less than 20 people to maximize the learning impact through active participation. The class can be scheduled on a normal workday or even an off-shift if that works better for your team.
Each participant will complete a follow-up ‘Change Commitment Contract’ to ensure this is not your typical check-the-box workshop. This ‘contract’ will require them to practice key learnings and reinforce behavior changes, which will generate measurable performance results! I will meet with each participant the day following the workshop to review their Change Commitment Contract to ensure that the individuals are truly committed to specific and measurable actions.

why safety is a leadership problem
the necessary aspects of leadership to build a successful and injury-free team
key behavioral traits and traps for the leader
key communication skills and pitfalls
coaching and developing YOUR team
These topics are taught based on current theory and research and then are reinforced with real-life experience and examples. Participants will partake in activities during the workshop to reinforce key points and ensure they understand that the tools presented have practical applications and that the experience is memorable! We start with broad topics and then get very specific with the skills needed to succeed and deliver results as a safety leader.

Anyone who directs employees has an impact on the safety culture of an operation. Therefore, I recommend that every ‘people-leader’ from a shift crew leader, through department supervisors and managers participate - even if some are Unionized positions and others are ‘management.’
